What to Expect

Overview

No surprises. No judgment. Just support.

We understand that walking into a new place for the first time can feel overwhelming — especially when you’re already dealing with a lot. So here’s exactly what happens when you come to PARC, step by step, so you know what to expect before you arrive.

When You Arrive:

You’ll be welcomed. The moment you walk through our doors, you’ll be greeted by a staff member or peer worker. There’s no sign-in sheet at the entrance, no forms to fill out, and no questions you have to answer. You’re welcome just as you are.

No Intake Interview at the Door Unlike some services, PARC does not require you to go through a formal intake process just to enter the space. Walk in, take a breath, and get comfortable.

The space is yours. Find a seat, grab a meal, and look around. The Drop-In is a shared community space—people are talking, eating, taking part in activities, or simply resting. There’s no pressure to do anything in particular.

Getting Support:

Meals Are Available Two meals are served daily, free of charge. You’re welcome to eat without signing up or registering for anything.

Staff and Peer Workers Are Here If you have questions, need someone to talk to, or want to find out what programs are available—just approach any staff member or peer worker. They’re here to help, not to judge.

You Set the Pace You don’t need to sign up for a program on your first visit. You can come back as many times as you like, get comfortable with the space, and connect with support whenever you feel ready. There’s no timeline and no pressure.

Connecting to Programs When you’re ready, a staff member can sit down with you to talk about what kind of support would be most helpful — whether that’s housing, case management, financial assistance, employment, or something else. This is a conversation, not an assessment.

What PARC Is Like:

Safe and Respectful PARC is a space built on dignity, trust, and inclusion. Discrimination and harassment are not tolerated. Everyone — staff, members, and visitors — is expected to treat each other with respect.

Community-Driven Many of the people you’ll meet at PARC — including some staff and peer workers — have their own lived experience of homelessness, mental health challenges, or substance use. This is a place where people understand each other.

Non-Judgmental Whatever you’re going through, you won’t be judged for it here. PARC operates from a harm reduction model, which means we support you where you are—not where someone else thinks you should be.

Your Privacy is protected. Your personal information is kept confidential. You don’t have to share anything you’re not comfortable with, and what you do share stays within PARC.
