We Remember Sheila Koffman

by | Oct 17, 2023 | Articles

Sheila Koffman was enormously compassionate and caring, with a deep belief in community. The entrepreneur and activist founded and ran Another Story bookstore for over three decades with a fierce commitment to equity, diversity, and social justice. Sheila also served as Co-Chair on the PARC Board of Directors from 2009 to 2016.

When Sheila knew she might not survive her cancer diagnosis, she planned support for the people and places she cared about, including the bookstore and PARC. She helped Another Story become worker-owned and operated, ensuring it could weather many challenges independent bookstores face. For PARC, Sheila donated proceeds from the sale of her house to create the Sheila Koffman fund. This fund helped PARC purchase four buildings between 2019 and 2021.

We miss her every year, but her legacy lives on, meaning so much to so many.
