I would like to let you know that I attended the PDA (Public Displays of Affection) and Designers Exhibition at the Gladstone Hotel on late Thursday afternoon and evening, September 23, 2010. I was quite amazed and impressed by the individual pieces of work that were designed and made by the Designers for PARC’s social housing development, Edmond Place. Each piece of furniture, including a music keyboard and chandelier are unique in their design and how they were built. Many of the Designers turned up for the event, along with many people from the community, as well as PARC members, staff and Board members. One of these Designers, a Designer herself, and a faculty member of Sheridan College Design Program, Connie Chisholm, whose Design students designed and made some of the items on display at the event, attended the event. In fact it was one of her students who made a lovely coffee table out of many pieces of different types of wood that won the competition for the best design and work. There were many people who attended, many of them young, among them many designers and artists. It was very busy from that evening with quite a crowd and the atmosphere and setting festive in its mood. I would like to thank all the Designers involved in this endeavor for their time, and putting tremendous effort with their minds, hearts, souls, and bodies in producing the 51 pieces that will become apart of Edmond Place. Thank you all so much on behalf of PARC.
