Volunteer with PARC

volunteerVolunteering is a great experience for all. We are grateful you are considering becoming a volunteer with PARC. We have diverse projects going on within PARC and  diverse skills, from motivated people like  you, are needed.

Yoga

The Yoga group has started again. Every Sunday at 2.00 pm.

A yoga group provides members with a stress reduction practice suited to their needs and abilities in a peaceful setting. Breathing and meditation have a profound effect on stress management by changing brain and body chemistry.

Yoga teacher

Practicing yoga leads to reduced stress and anxiety, helping to balance the mind and body. Learning to remain calm and relaxed in awkward and sometimes unbalanced postures is a great analogy for the awkward and sometimes uncomfortable situations we find ourselves in our everyday lives.

Please join us as we practice stretching and stretch postures combined with breathing and relaxation techniques.

Even if you’ve never tried yoga before, we’re sure you’ll find something to gain. You’ll leave the class refreshed and reenergized!

Furniture Refurbishing Workshops with PDA

Join Katherine, Parimal, Adam and Jeremy (Public Displays of Affection) as they hold furniture refurbishing workshops at the PARC drop-in every Friday for the next year or so. Come and learn how to repair, re-paint, re-finish and re-make furniture we find on the streets of Parkdale!  Some of these pieces will be selected for our design exhibition at DeLeon White gallery in the summer of 2010.  Others will be used to furnish the amenity spaces at Edmond Place, and some will be taken home by the volunteers who made them!

Time: Every Friday 2:00-4:00pm

Place: PARC Drop-in – Old Smoke Room

Bring:  Enthusiasm!
